Logia of Jesus common to Matthew and Mark - theological characteristics
Theological Journal of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Wroc³aw 6 (1998) 2, 153-162.
Article provides the frame of the main theological ideas of Jesus logia, which are common for the first two synoptic gospels, achieved by showing the sources and redactional work of Mark and Matthew. The sayings are included in eleven pericopes: the true cleannes (Mk 7,1-23; Matt 15,1-20); the Canaanite Woman (Syrophoenician - Mk 7,24-30; Matt 15,1-28); the second miracle of the loaves (Mk 8,1-10; Matt 15,32-39); the rejection of doing miracles (Mk 8,11-13; Matt 16,1-4); the warning against Pharisees and Saducees (Mk 8,14-21; Matt 16,5-12); the answer the Peter’s question (Mk 8,33; Matt 16,23); the announcement of Elijah’s coming (Mk 9,11-13; Matt 17,10-13); the glass of water and occasion to fall into sin (Mk 9,41-49; Matt 10,42; 18,8-9); the indissolubility of matrimony (Mk 10,2-12; Matt 19,3-10); the request (of mother) of Zebedee’s sons (Mk 10,35-41; Matt 20,20-24) and finally the cursed and withered fig tree (Mk 11,12-14.20-25; Matt 21,18-22). Specification of principal literary aspects of logia clearly explained in comparative studies allows to establish differences and similarities in Mark’s and Matthew’s transmission of Jesus sayings. The differences between Mark and Matthew are mainly result of their theological ideas.
