„The Necropolis of Silwan Village in the Light of Biblical Data”

The article concerns the necropolis known as Silwan (Siloe) situated close to Jerusalem. Publication consists of three parts. The first one presents and describes burial inscriptions from the second period of the Iron Age discovered by archaeologists. The second part confronts biblical data with texts of the above mentioned inscriptions and with other artifacts found during excavations. The third part defines conclusions in relation to Jewish beliefs about the afterlife and about funeral practices in Israel. Author interprets the burial customs of placing vessels, meals, lamps, jewellery and weapons in tombs.
