The Interpretation of John's Narration about the Empty Tomb of Jesus (John 20,1-18) in the Light of Myth about The Garden of Eden
Collectanea Theologica 74 (2004) 1, 39-64.
Author presents interpretation of a John's narration about empty tomb (John 20,1-18) in the light of Jahvistic narration about the Garden of Eden (Gen 2-4). Article characterizes motives and threads existing in John's pericope and Jahvistic account and examines the principal motifs of these texts in culture of the ancient Near East and also in ancient Greek mentality. The same or similar motives occur either in narration about the Garden of Eden (Gen 2-3) and in the narration about empty tomb of Jesus in John 20. The most important are the following: motif of garden, motif of looking for, motif of heavenly creature (angels) and motif of clothed-unclothed body. In this way a new dimension of the interpretation of John's pericope has been indicated.
