Holy Spirit - the Source of Courage in Proclamation of Salvation Word
(Acts 4,23-31)
Verbum Vitae 2 (2002) 151-164.
Exegetical and theological analysis of Acts 4,24-31 undertaken by author in this article allows the following conclusion: the introduction (4,23-24a) presents the nature of the community prayer and indicates the missionary activity nature of nascent Church; quotation from Ps 2,1-2 (4,25b-26) points Jesus as an “Anointed One”; the prayer of the disciples (4,27-30) indicates that after the resurrection, Jesus mission has been taken over and continued by Christians; v.31 shows the results of this community prayer: the pouring of the Holy Spirit. Messianic comprehension of Ps 2,1-2 interprets fact of persecution in dual optics: first in historical mission of Jesus, then in life of His disciples.
